Paint correction

Swirls out.
Depth back.

Multi-stage paint correction in Cottonwood, AZ. We remove swirls and light scratches to restore clarity and gloss.

What it is

Paint correction

Paint correction is the process of machine-polishing the clear coat to remove defects such as swirl marks, light scratches, haze and oxidation. Instead of hiding flaws with fillers, correction levels the surface so light reflects cleanly again.

Multi-stage correction means we use more than one polishing step: a more aggressive step to remove defects, then a finer step to refine the finish to a high gloss.

What we do
  • Full wash and decontamination
  • Clay treatment
  • Paint inspection under strong light
  • Multi-stage machine polishing
  • Refining polish for maximum gloss
  • Panel wipe to reveal the true finish
  • Protection afterward, or ceramic coating
How we do it

Our process, step by step.

  1. 1

    Wash

The vehicle is thoroughly hand washed, including wheels and door jambs.

  2. 2

    Decontaminate

Chemical decontamination removes iron and tar; clay removes bonded grime so the pad works on clean paint.

  3. 3

    Inspect & tape

We inspect the paint under bright light and tape off trim, rubber and edges to protect them.

  4. 4

    Test spot

We test pad and polish combinations on a small area to find the least aggressive approach that gets results.

  5. 5

    Cut

The compounding stage removes swirls, light scratches and oxidation from the clear coat.

  6. 6

    Refine

A finer polishing stage removes any haze left by compounding and brings out depth and gloss.

  7. 7

    Wipe down & check

Polishing oils are wiped away so we can see the true result and touch up any area that needs it.

  8. 8

    Protect

The finished paint is protected, ideally with a ceramic coating to help keep it looking corrected.

Why it matters

Why it matters.

Polishing removes a small amount of clear coat, so correction should be done carefully and not more often than needed. That's why we inspect first and choose the gentlest approach that works.

Deep scratches that go through the clear coat may not polish out fully; we'll tell you what to expect after the inspection.

Who it's for
  • Paint that looks dull or swirled in the sun
  • Before a ceramic coating or PPF
  • New or newly purchased vehicles with wash marring
  • Show and collector cars
